Yvan Muller has arrived in Australia ahead of next weekend’s Armor All Gold Coast 600.
The Frenchman will co-drive with Greg Murphy in the #51 Castrol EDGE Commodore VE.
Muller was greeted at Brisbane International Airport today by team owner Paul Morris.
Muller, who won the Sandown 500 in 2005 as a co-driver with Craig Lowndes and is currently leading the World Touring Car Championship, said he couldn’t be more excited about the coming week and the challenges it would present him.
“The Gold Coast is a very challenging circuit from what I have seen and heard, and I am very much looking forward to next week,” said Muller.
“I have raced V8 Supercars before and I am sure once I do a few laps on Wednesday it will all come back to me, and I am confident we can do well.
“Qualifying is very important on a track like the Gold Coast so Greg Murphy and I will be trying our best to get up the front early and do our best for each race.
“Greg is a very experienced driver and it is a good car and a good team, so I am excited about the coming week.”
Paul Morris Motorsport team boss Paul Morris was equally enthused about Muller joining Murphy on the streets of the Gold Coast.
“We have the only international entrant on the Gold Coast that has won a V8 Supercar race before, so that is pretty exciting,” said Morris.
“With Muller and Murphy together in the #51 car, I can’t think of anything better and I expect them to do well.”
Muller will be one of 18 international stars who have flown from all across the world to compete in this special event on the streets of the Gold Coast.
The Armor All Gold Coast 600 will kick off in just six days time from Friday October 22 to Sunday October 24.
