Aero testing of the new Holden ZB Commodore has resumed ahead of the car’s official homologation next month.
Triple Eight has conducted straight-line test runs with its newly developed Holden Supercar at Temora airfield, located approximately 200kms north west of Canberra.
Testing at the venue began on Wednesday before concluding today.
Team mechanic and Dunlop Super2 Series driver Kurt Kostecki was tasked to complete the test which ran without issue.
“We’ve been aero testing as part of the ZB development, its fine and we achieved what we wanted to,” team owner Roland Dane told Speedcafe.com.
“It didn’t rain and we didn’t have any issues.”
The squad intends to conduct a test with the car at Queensland Raceway prior to its official Supercars homologation tests in December.
Triple Eight have been forced to abandon tests with the new look aero package at Queensland Raceway on two occasions.
The first was due to damage sustained to the new ZB panels following an aero test at Stanthorpe airfield in September, while a tight schedule between Gold Coast and Pukekohe Supercars rounds forced a second postponement.
Regular drivers Jamie Whincup, Shane van Gisbergen and Craig Lowndes were not required for this week’s test.
The former and current Supercars championship leader has been suffering with a stomach illness picked up in New Zealand that required a brief visit to a Gold Coast hospital on Thursday.
Triple Eight has confirmed to Speedcafe.com that Whincup has since returned to his Gold Coast home to continue his recovery ahead of the Coates Hire Newcastle 500 title decider from November 24-26.
