Aaron Seton will replace his two-time Australian Touring Car Championship winning father Glenn Seton in the Touring Car Masters next season.

The 18-year-old will pilot the Ford Mustang vacated by touring car star Seton Sr at Thunder Road Racing Team Australia.

Following a successful season in Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, this year he has raced competitively in both the Toyota 86 Series and the Australian Production Car series.

“I’m really looking forward to jumping in the Mustang,” said Aaron Seton.

“It will be a great experience and another car that will help develop my skills even if I had to push dad out of the way.

“Don (Dimitriadis, Thunder Road Racing team owner) has been awesome putting all of this together and I’m looking forward to working with him next year.

“The TCM cars are a lot more like a Supercar than what I have driven before, which will be a step forward and help me gain experience and develop as a driver.”

Glenn Seton proved a force in this year’s Touring Car Masters campaign, driving the Mustang to second in the standings behind five-time series winner John Bowe.

Seton Sr believes the move will allow his son to further enhance his skills as he continues to rise up the motorsport ladder.

“I suppose it was inevitable that Aaron was going to pinch my drive at some point,” joked Glenn Seton.

“I’m actually really happy for him because it’s the next step for what he wants to do in his career, driving a heavier car with a smaller tyre and learn that technique.

“I’m proud of what he has achieved so far and next year will be a good step in his career.”
