Reigning Australian Production Car champion Beric Lynton and co-driver Tim Leahey will sit out the next two rounds of the season.
Lynton will be unavailable for the Winton (June 9-11) and Sydney Motorsport Park (July 7-9) rounds due to work commitments with the Bruce Lynton Automotive dealer, for which he is Group Principal.
The pair’s two-time championship-winning BMW 1M is also on the market, though the team already has another 1M in their possession for their return.
However, Lynton is investigating alternative vehicles for when he hopes to be back on the grid for Round 4 at Queensland Raceway (August 4-6).
“Work is a necessity and we have some product launch/training travel commitments with Land Rover for new models arriving this year to attend that clash with some of the rounds,” explained Lynton.
“We definitely are trying to be at Queensland Raceway but will miss the Winton and Sydney Motorsport Park events.
“Once the original multiple championship winning car is sold, we’ll review all options for a replacement car.
“Personally, I think the BMW M3/M4 is still the best option. However, Jaguar have just announced a SVO XE for Europe that would be great but is planned for left hand drive only.”
Lynton and Leahey finished fourth in the A1 class and outright at the Bathurst 6 Hour, Round 1 of the Australian Production Car Cup.
The Winton round of APC will be run over a pair of 300km races.
