Erebus Motorsport has announced Jaylyn Robotham will join its academy and step up to the Super2 Series.
The 18-year-old will compete under the Image Racing umbrella, the team which took Will Brown to second in last year’s series.
Robotham contested last year’s condensed Super3 Series with MW Motorsport, winning all four races across Sydney Motorsport Park and Mount Panorama.
The Victorian said he “jumped at the opportunity” to join the Erebus Academy as he looks towards a future in Supercars.
“I was wanting to move up into Super2 this year so this partnership means a lot,” Robotham said of his signing.
“Erebus are a well established team and the way they promote young drivers and help them through the ranks really stood out to me.
“I felt it was going to be the best opportunity for me to move forward in my career.
“I’m feeling good about moving into Super2. We were combined with the Super2 field last year so I was able to race against most of the drivers that are racing this year.”
Erebus Motorsport CEO Barry Ryan said he is eager to see how Robotham fares in the Supercars feeder series.
“We are passionate about helping young drivers take their next steps, which is what we have now seen with Will graduating to the main game,” said Ryan.
“Jaylyn has shown a lot of potential throughout his career and continues to improve.
“With the backing of Image Racing and Erebus Academy, we believe we can provide him with the tools and extra support he needs to succeed.”
Robotham will have his first hitout with Image Racing next week ahead of the season-opening Mount Panorama 500 on February 26-28.
