The #24 factory Nissan GT-R has been ruled out of Practice 4 after sustaining significant damage following a heavy crash at the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.

Florian Strauss lost control of the GT-R before clouting the wall at the Metal Grate which has left his crew with heavy repairs that will go into the night.

Strauss, who is sharing the car with Todd Kelly and Jann Mardenborough, was able to nurse the car back to the pits but early indictions are the GT-R has sustained suspected chassis damage.

Nissan team chief Bob Neville remains hopeful repairs can be completed overnight.

“We do know that it has damaged the front radiator, intercoolers and left-hand suspension,” Neville told Speedcafe.com.

“We are going to check the chassis and there is a bit of damage beyond the pick-up points.

“It is quite a lot of work and we sincerely hope its fixable.

“We think we have enough spares and we are checking and double checking now.

“As you know, there are so many parts on these cars and something silly can mess you around.

“We are very optimistic we have the parts though.”

Meanwhile, the sister #23 car of Katsumasa Chiyo, Alex Buncombe and Michael Caruso, is making steady progress after finishing fourth fastest in Practice 3.

Meanwhile, the Keltic Racing McLaren 650S has left the circuit to undergo an engine replacement.

The #37 entry driven by Tony Quinn, Klark Quinn, Grant Denyer and Andrew Waite encountered engine trouble during Practice 3.
