East Coast Pipelines Racing pilot Robbie Farr emerged victorious in the 2010 Jack Daniels Racing Australian Sprintcar Nationals at Adelaide’s Speedway City on Saturday night.

The Orrcon Steel-backed racer started on the front row of the 35-lap main event before leading for the duration to claim the win ahead of David Murcott and James McFadden.

“We’ve been winning a bit lately but they don’t seem to have been coming on World Series rounds, in saying that though a win is a win and we’ll take them anywhere they come,” said Farr.

“The track caught me out a bit in the feature as it was graded just before the race but I think everyone was in a similar boat so it turned out ok.

“With only a couple of rounds left in World Series the aim now is to continue this momentum and finish it off in the best way possible.”

With Farr leading the entire journey the real battle of the race was for second with Murcott and McFadden trading places on several occasions in the closing stages. Eventually Murcott managed to hold off the hard charging youngster with Max Dumesny and Ryan Farrell completing the top five.

Three-time South Australian Champion Steven Lines was the first of the local drivers home in sixth while Track Championship leader Jamie Cobby, Brooke Tatnell, Mark Reuter and Danny Reidy completed the top ten.

The event proved to be a real tough one for the five Americans on hand as all five failed to make or finish the feature event. Shane Stewart and Jason Johnson were the only two to progress to the main with Stewart up ending his machine on lap 20 while Johnson pulled in on lap 22 after contact with Dumesny cut down his left rear tyre.

The remaining three Internationals had nights that they would rather forget after both Danny Smith and Wayne Johnson were involved in a six car incident in the B-Main while Californian Jonathan Allard didn’t get past the heat races after being involved in two separate heat race accidents.
