Title winning cars from the CAMS Australian Sports Car Championship have been confirmed to take part in a special demonstration at next month’s Muscle Car Masters from October 29-30.
Event organisers have confirmed Alan Nolan and his Nola-Chevrolet will headline the new-for-2016 Sports Racing Car Invitational category for this year’s demonstration runs.
The pair took out the final CAMS Australian Sports Car Championship title in 1988.
The car will be joined by the Matich SR4, owned by Nigel Tait, which claimed the inaugural championship crown in 1969 with the late Frank Matich at the wheel.
The popular CAMS Australian Sports Car Championship saw a host of exotic machines compete including the McLaren M6B.
Touring car legends Ian ‘Pete’ Geoghegan, John Harvey, Allan Moffat and John Bowe all lifted the title during its 20 seasons of existence.
The cars will feature in a trio of 15-minute demonstrations featuring big banger Sportscars, historically significant Sports Sedans and GT and Can-Am cars.
The thunderous Can-Am cars of the 1970s will also be represented by Andrew Kluver’s ex-Keke Rosberg Newman-Haas Lola Can-Am car.
Three-time Australian Drivers Champion John McCormack will feature alongside two of his former cars in the Historic Sports Sedans line-up.
Mark Trenoweth will bring the ex-McCormack Jaguar XJS that the Tasmanian racing legend will drive, while Bruce Gowans has recently finished restoring the ex-McCormack built Toyota Celica Sports Sedan.
Wall Racing will return to the Muscle Car Masters with its Formula 5000-powered Holden Dealer Team Torana formerly raced by Colin Bond.
