James Davison will make a return to the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship at this weekend’s Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park.
The Australian has secured a deal to drive a GTD class Aston Martin Vantage prepared by The Racers Group (TRG) squad.
Davison is familiar face at TRG having driven for the operation in the American championship for the last three seasons.
However, this weekend’s outing at the Connecticut circuit, alongside American driver Brandon Davis, is his first run in the series this year.
Davison has previously competed in the Indianapolis 500 in May having filled in for the injured Sebastien Bourdais at Dale Coyne Racing.
“This is really a homecoming for me, racing with TRG at Lime Rock,” says Davison.
“I had my first opportunity to race with TRG on this track and we had a remarkable run, finishing fourth after starting at the back of the field.
“I’m excited to partner again with Brandon. We’ve proven we can fight for podiums and wins together and we’re really looking forward to a successful weekend.”
The Northeast Grand Prix will see GTLM and GTD classes do battle in a 2 hour and 40 minute endurance race on Saturday.
