Kelly Racing is shaking down its first Nissan Altima V8 Supercar at Calder Park Raceway today.
The car’s first track running follows its official launch on Tuesday, where team co-owners Todd and Rick Kelly were joined by Nissan Australia bosses to reveal the car to the media.
Nissan has elected to keep details of the test close to its chest until it is completed later today.
Team co-owner Todd Kelly told Speedcafe.com earlier this week that the shakedown would see the car complete laps of the Victorian venue to check that all of the car’s systems are working before undertaking a small program of aerodynamic evaluation running in advance of the official V8 Supercars parity testing.
It is unclear who is driving the car as Kelly Racing’s four current race drivers – Rick Kelly, Tim Blanchard, Karl Reindler and Greg Murphy – are all currently in Abu Dhabi, while Todd Kelly is still recovering from his recent shoulder surgery. The team’s endurance co-driver, David Russell, was thought to be in line to take the wheel but was unavailable to do so today.
Check back to Speedcafe.com later this evening for more from the shakedown.
