Kyle Busch has survived a two-lap shootout to win Kentucky Speedway’s maiden NASCAR Sprint Cup race.
Busch was the race long pace-setter, and led by as much as eight seconds during a mid-race 105 lap green-flag run.
A caution for a wrecked Clint Bowyer on Lap 262 of 267 closed the field up however, allowing David Reutimann and Jimmie Johnson a chance of victory.
Busch took his third win of the season ahead of the pair, while Ryan Newman and Carl Edwards rounded out the top five.
Marcos Ambrose finished 20th in his Richard Petty Motorsports Ford. The former V8 Supercars driver lost two laps early due to an off-sequence fuel strategy, but fought back to be on the lead lap at the flag.
“At times it was a difficult night, but we hung in there and managed to get a result from the evening,” said Ambrose.
