Craig Lowndes’ V8 Supercars endurance co-driver Warren Luff will make his New Zealand V8 SuperTourer Series debut at Pukekohe later this month.
Luff will drive alongside John McIntyre in the former NZV8 champion’s Ford Falcon FG.
The Gold Coast-based driver replaces Jono Lester, who is unavailable for the meeting which acts as the final round of the Hankook Super Series of endurance events.
An Australian Porsche Carrera Cup regular, Luff is coming off the back of winning V8 Supercars’ inaugural Pirtek Enduro Cup alongside Lowndes.
“Warren was at the top of the list when it came to selecting a co-driver that is quick and consistent for Pukekohe,” McIntyre said.
McIntyre, whose team is based at Taupo, is languishing in 12th in the standings, describing the year as his most difficult since the middle of last decade.
“It’s no secret that we (John McIntyre Racing) have had a trying season, actually our toughest in our seven years,” he said.
“We are taking on a maximum attack attitude to Pukekohe and I know Warren will be able to back me up as we try and win our first race of the season.”
Luff has been a keen observer of the V8ST, watching coverage of the season on Speed Channel.
“I can’t wait to have a drive of the V8SuperTourer after watching the series on TV in Australia. The cars look like a lot of fun to drive and the Pukekohe track I really enjoy,” Luff said.
Luff is having his first steer of the #47 Falcon in a team sponsor day at the Manfeild circuit today ahead of the November 29 – December 1 race meeting.
