Marcus Marshall will drive the #60 Image Racing Falcon BA in this weekend’s Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series.
The Gold Coast-resident got a late call-up from the Newcastle-based Fujitsu team to compete at the inaugural Sydney Olympic Park street circuit.
“It’s a very late minute deal,” he said.
“They’d contacted me a few weeks ago. I considered it, and they’d got someone else, but they pulled out so now I’m in. I couldn’t refuse!
“It’s a good chance to blow the cobwebs out and just go and enjoy it. I haven’t driven a car in a few months, and I didn’t want to miss out on the big event.
“For Race Image, it’s a chance to prove that they have good equipment. It’s obviously not a brand-new car compared to the likes of Jonothan Webb, James Moffat and those guys, but I’m sure it will be enough to learn the track.
“I have to say a big thanks to Race Image for giving me the drive. It’s very nice of them. I haven’t met the blokes yet, but I’m about to!”
Fujitsu V8 Supercars will hit the track for the first time at 8.55am tomorrow morning for a 40 minute practice session.
