Organisers of the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour have announced a new control tyre supplier for the production car enduro.
Indian giant MRF Tyres will supply the field from next year’s race in a five-year deal.
“Our tyre – ‘ZTR’ is made as per FIA regulations,” said the CEO of MRF Tyres’ Australian distributor, Vivek Ponnusamy.
“It is an intermediate tyre with extra grooves which reduces aquaplaning when the track is wet. Our aim is to provide a tyre for all conditions; so that competitors can enjoy the racing experience they crave for.
“We at MRF Tyres are honoured to be part of the prestigious Bathurst 6-hour race.”
MRF replaces Hankook, which was the control tyre supplier for the first three years of the Bathurst 6 Hour.
The 2019 race will again take place over Easter, the weekend of April 19-21, with entries to open in September.
