Nissan will bring its ‘Circuit Safari’ concept to the Wilson Security Sandown 500 this weekend.

The program sees special guests board a bus which completes laps of the circuit while a selection of race cars perform demonstration runs.

Nissan’s Circuit Safari has proved popular at the NISMO Festival in Japan but this weekend will be its international debut.

The Japanese marque is set to welcome more 1,400 guests to the Melbourne venue for the opening round of the Pirtek Enduro Cup.

Nissan’s fleet of Altima Supercars are expected to take part in the Circuit Safari alongside a range of new and vintage racing machinery.

An example of the GT-R GT3 will be joined on track by a group of Gibson Motorsport prepared classic touring cars and the 1988 R88C Le Mans 24 Hours race car.

Among the Gibson Motorsport cars are two GT-Rs, including the 1991 Bathurst 1000 winner, and two HR31s.

“The Nissan Circuit Safari is a unique way for Nissan to bring its motorsport heritage to life, and the Sandown retro round is the perfect place to do this,” said Mitchell Wiley, Nissan Australia’s senior marketing manager of Sponsorship & Retail.

“A feature of the NISMO Festival for many years, we are delighted to include some of Australia’s most famous Nissan race cars.

“To be in a bus as these cars pass you at speed will be a once in a lifetime experience for a lucky group of Nissan employees, owners and racing fans.

“In addition, it’s exciting for motorsport fans who have the opportunity to see them up close – whether on track or as part of the historic car display.

“Nissan has a rich history when it comes to motorsport, and like the retro round, Nissan Circuit Safari celebrates this.”

The Nissan Circuit Safari will take place on Friday and Saturday with three sessions planned over the two days.
