The Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit is set to retain its season-opening February slot on next year’s Motul FIM Superbike World Championship calendar.
Championship promoter Dorna has advised organisers that the Australian Round is scheduled for February 22-24, although the FIM will not officially ratify the date and the rest of the calendar until later this year.
Tickets for the event will go on sale from mid-October.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed during the British MotoGP weekend that current Angel Nieto Racing Team rider Alvaro Bautista will shift to World SBK with the factory Ducati team next year.
Bautista, who missed out on a call-up for the new SIC Racing squad which has taken over the Nieto Team’s entries, will ride the Italian marque’s all-new Panigale V4 alongside incumbent Chaz Davies.
Kawasaki’s Jonathan Rea currently leads the championship by 92 points ahead of Round 10 at Portimão on September 14-16.
Phillip Island will host this year’s Michelin Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) on October 26-28.
