One of Australia’s brightest young karting protégé’s Pierce Lehane will spend the majority of 2014 in the United Kingdom as he faces the next challenge in his career.
The four-time Australian Champion will be join the Dan Holland Racing (DHR) outfit to chase the British Championship, Winter Cup and Rotax Max Euro Challenge in the Senior MAX category.
DHR is the team that Lehane has been competing with during his European campaigns throughout late 2012 and each round of this year’s Rotax Max Euro Challenge.
Lehane will be based at the team’s workshop that is located at the Whilton Mills Kart Circuit in Northamptonshire, England.
“Since joining with Dan Holland Racing (for the European Rotax events) late last year my aim was to make the most of my opportunities and I see this as the next step in developing our relationship,” said Lehane.
“I will be working in the team’s workshop while living with Dan and Natalie Holland and doing a lot of testing for the team in between races.
“Effectively I’ll be living, eating and breathing karting day in, day out. I’m really excited about the opportunity.
“Living over there will make things a lot easier as it help me build even more team chemistry being with the team week in week out.
“I also wont have to worry about jet lag and getting use to time zones and having finished Year 12 this year I won’t have the added pressure of school work when I return home like I did this year.”
While in Australia either side of his English sojourn during 2014, which begins in March, Lehane will continue to compete under the Kart 1 Racing Redspeed banner with the support of Troy Farley Race Engines.
