Mount Panorama has borne witness to one of its more unique moments after a couple wed in pit lane.
Shane Clarke and India Anderson-Clift were married in a V8 Utes-themed ceremony which was conducted by former Jesus All About Life Racing team member Reverend Steve Peach.
India was driven to pit lane in Craig Dontas’ Thirsty Camel Commodore, while the bridesmaids arrived in the Warren Millett and Kris Walton machines.
Shane, a regular V8 Utes volunteer, revealed that while he had planned to tie the knot in Bathurst, the scale of the occasion was a pleasantly surprising development.
“Bathurst is the iconic racetrack,” he explained. “Why wouldn’t you do it if you could do it?”
“It was my idea in the first place to get married at Bathurst.
“After a few months of emails going around, it snowballed into going on from our campsite over to the Armor All bridge, and then all of a sudden to pit lane.
“You couldn’t top that so we said we’d stop there.”
India threw the bouquet off Mount Panorama’s podium, before the newly married couple left the wedding in Sieders Racing Team’s pit crew’s golf cart.
They will hold a reception at their campsite on Sunday evening, after Shane’s volunteer duties have concluded.
