Rally driver John Goasdoue has been killed in an accident while riding his mountain bike in Brisbane.
Goasdoue had been riding his bike on an infamous trail at Mt Coo-tha on what is known as the Powerful Owl circuit.
The accident occurred near the Channel 9 studios and Goasdoue was unable to be revived at the scene.
His rally co-driver Glen Weston posted on Facebook: “It is with great sadness that I have to report that our good friend John Goasdoue passed away this morning after he crashed his mountain bike whilst on a morning ride.
“It is a great shock to us all, and my thoughts are with his family and all of the people who he has touched and befriend in the last 54 years.”
Goasdoue and John Spencer were the first Australian crew home in a Mitubishi Lancer in the 2011 World Rally Championship at Coffs Harbour.
