Monster Energy American sprintcar pilot, Shane Stewart took his first main event win of the 2013 season at QUIT Bunbury Speedway, inheriting the victory from Steven Lines for the second night in succession.
After the preliminary night blowing a right rear, the second night Lines had a mechanical gremlin hit his Bridgestone machine on a restart.
“I really think we were too fast for anyone on that racetrack,” explained Stewart. “The guys gave me a beautiful car tonight and I could put it anywhere and be fast. It’s so satisfying to repay the loyalty that my car owner Luch Monte has shown in me. The points situation should be real interesting now for the series too I’d guess.”
The win has elevated Stewart to second place in the Championship sitting 238 points behind Series long leader, James McFadden.
Robert Farr ended the night in second and South Aussie Luke Dillon completed the podium. Right behind that trio was US World of Outlaws star, Tim Kaeding who has found his groove aboard the Krikke Motorsport COOL Chassis over recent rounds.
Fifth placing was Series leader McFadden with Jason Kendrick and American Randy Hannagan right behind them.
The major incident of the A-Main was local racer Shaun Bradford coming together with World Series regular Daniel Pestka, the pair rolling spectacularly.
Lines set the quickest time in the Gold Shootout, but has dropped to third in the overall points standings with the final round to be held next weekend at the Perth Motorplex.
