Cameron Shields has taken his first two Formula Ford race wins as he won Round 4 of the series at Queensland Raceway.
Shields (Mygale) won Races 1 and 3 at ‘The Paperclip', with Hunter McElrea (Mygale) claiming Race 2.
Series leader Max Vidau (Mygale) qualified on pole but it was Shields who won out in a close contest between those two and McElrea in Race 1.
The trio turned on another thrilling contest in Race 2, McElrea taking honours from Shields and Vidau as the top three were covered by less than 0.4s at the chequered flag.
Shields had a slightly easier time of it when he won Race 3 by just over a second, having led all the way.
“It's an absolutely incredible feeling to come away from my home track with two race wins and the round win,” said Shields.
“It was really close racing with Max and Hunter all weekend; we were passing into every corner in Race 2.”
McElrea finished second overall ahead of Vidau, who has extended his series lead to 52 points with two rounds remaining.
Title contender Jayden Ojeda (Spedtrum) finished fourth in Race 1 and sixth in Race 2, but chalked up a DNF with mechanical problems in Race 3.
Round 5 will be held on a NSW state meeting at Sydney Motorsport Park on September 15-17.
