Steven Johnson has announced plans to team up with his father Dick to tackle the Touring Car Masters in a newly created Team Johnson operation.
Announced via the team’s Facebook page, Steven Johnson will pilot the entry with three-time Bathurst 1000 winner Dick Johnson assisting with the running of the squad.
It appears the team will field a Ford Mustang Trans-am having revealed a silhouette of the car on social media.
Team Johnson will unveil its livery on March 1 ahead of the Touring Car Masters season opener at the Clipsal 500 from March 2-5.
“Dick and Steve Johnson are excited to announce “Team Johnson”, a newly formed team who will be running in the 2017 Touring Car Master series with Steve Johnson at the wheel,” read a post on the team’s Facebook page.
“We have some great new sponsors on board for 2017 and the car looks very impressive.
“We will be revealing the livery on Wednesday 1st March, ahead of the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide and can’t wait to see what you all think.”
Steven Johnson has been a regular in the Touring Car Masters in recent seasons scoring three race wins behind the wheel of a Ford Falcon GTHO in his first full-time campaign last year.
He recorded 10 victories driving a Ford Mustang during the 2015 season.
