Chaz Mostert was voted the most popular Supercars driver for the first time in 2024. With more than a decade of experience, he is one of the longest-tenured drivers in the championship.
Mostert took a traditional path to Supercars, winning the 2010 Australian Formula Ford Championship. He debuted in the second-tier Dunlop Super2 Series (then-known Fujitsu Series) with an impressive one-off start in 2010 before making the full transition in 2011.
Mostert missed out on winning the 2012 Fujitsu Series, finishing third behind champion Scott McLaughlin and Scott Pye.
Mostert returned for a third tilt at the Fujitsu Series in 2013 with MW Motorsport but lasted only the first round at Adelaide, where he finished second and first across the two races. Johnny Reid was deposed by Dick Johnson Racing just three rounds into the season and replaced by Mostert, who made his debut at Wanneroo Raceway on loan from Ford Performance Racing.
It didn’t take long for Mostert to make his mark, winning at Queensland Raceway in just his 14th race. For 2014, Mostert was drafted into Ford Performance Racing. Mostert replaced Will Davison, who went to Erebus Motorsport.
Mostert finished seventh in his first season with FPR, headlined by a stunning come-from-behind Bathurst 1000 win with Paul Morris.
For 2015, the team underwent a rebrand to Prodrive Racing. Mostert immediately put himself in contention for the title, but a bone-breaking crash at the Bathurst 1000 that year ended his season early.
Mostert remained with the Ford team through to the end of 2019, at which point he switched to Walkinshaw Andretti United. In 2021, he won the Bathurst 1000 for the second time, on that occasion with Lee Holdsworth.
Mostert has thrice finished third in the Supercars Championship with Walkinshaw Andretti United.
Other achievements include winning the 2020 Daytona 24 in the GTLM class with BMW Team RLL, winning the 2021 TCR Australia Series for Melbourne Performance Centre, and the 2024 edition of GT World Challenge Australia with Ferrari team Arise Racing.
