The V8 SuperTourers will run on the undercard to the V8 Supercars meeting at Pukekohe in April, the New Zealand category’s 2014 calendar has confirmed.
Fusing the two Antipodean Championships onto the same program appropriately comes on ANZAC weekend.
The move follows a cooling of previous friction between the two classes that saw V8 Supercars drivers discouraged from competing across the Tasman last year.
V8 Supercars regulars Shane van Gisbergen, Scott McLaughlin, Tim Slade, Chaz Mostert, Lee Holdsworth and Alex Davison all raced in the recent V8 SuperTourer endurance events.
The new-look V8ST calendar will kick off at the Highlands Park track at Cromwell in Otago from January 25-26.
It continue two weeks later on the program at the prestigious New Zealand Grand Prix meeting which closes the Toyota Racing Series season from February 8-9.
The seven-round V8ST series will feature three races at Pukekohe that includes the finale at the South Auckland circuit at the end of November.
As has been the case, the final three rounds are all part of the endurance component of the Championship with the venue for round five on the South Island yet to be confirmed.
After visiting Hampton Downs three times during 2013, the North Waikato venue is absent from the new schedule.
