Team BRM’s Ben Barker has taken pole position for the City Index Carrera Cup on the streets of Sydney Olympic Park.
The reigning Formula 3 Australian Drivers’ Champion will be joined on the front-row of the grid by Steve Richards.
After being pipped by Michael Patrizi in the final session yesterday, Barker went one better, edging out Richards by less than 0.1s.
Championship leader Craig Baird will start from third, two places ahead of his closest title rival Daniel Gaunt.
Jonny Reid will start fourth, his McElrea Racing team-mate Michael Patrizi in sixth, ahead of rookie Nick Foster, Max Twigg, James Koundouris and Paul Kelly.
The first race of three Carrera Cup races will be run at 1405 today.
