Liam Talbot has touched off preparations for a return to the Spa 24 Hour race in Belgium from July 23-26.

The Brisbane driver has been based in Europe for several months undergoing a strenuous fitness regimen ahead of the Blancpain Endurance Series event.

Talbot will share the Swiss-based Kessel Racing Ferrari 458 GT3 with Stephen Earle and Marco Zanuttini.

“Our time with Kessel Racing continues to get better,” Talbot said in a team release.

“As I spend more time behind the wheel I’m slowly unlocking the secrets to help me maximise the potential of the Ferrari.”

Talbot made his debut at the iconic circuit last year when the campaign was jolted after team-mate Marcus Mahy suffered a serious accident.

Mahy was airlifted to hospital and took many months to recover from his injuries.

Talbot is confident of a strong showing after a recent test in the 458 machine at Spa.

“I’m confident going into the race, however with a grid of over 60 cars, there’s going to be some heavy traffic to contend with over the 24 hours,” he said.

“With everything that happened at the 2014 event, this is our chance to bring ti back together and focus on a strong result for the team.”
