What’s it feel like to go from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows? Jason Richards’ knows.
The Team BOC driver went to Mount Panorama in one of the fastest V8 Supercars last week, but left with no result.
Exclusively for Speedcafe.com.au, Richards takes you one a day-by-day look at his week at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 – from the track walk to recovering from his Friday crash and standing on the grid on Sunday morning.
After Friday’s miracle repair work and a last-place starting position for the race, Richards and team-mate Andrew Jones looked set for a fairytale finish.
The Team BOC car started at the back worked its way back into contention thanks to some great strategy from the crew and was in 14th place by lap 58. The dream ending was not to be, however, when the throttle jammed and Richards was forced to pit. He went two laps down and, to add insult to injury, was given a drive-through penalty for speeding in pit lane.
The team finished the race in 23rd place.
