Walkinshaw Racing boss Ryan Walkinshaw has dismissed speculation that his racing operation is for sale.
The future of the factory Holden team came into question recently, with rumours swirling of the Walkinshaw family’s long-term commitment to the Clayton, Victoria outfit.
Walkinshaw – the son of the company’s late founder Tom Walkinshaw – confirmed to Speedcafe.com that the rumours were “baseless,” and in a later statement, expanded on the his team’s current position.
“The Walkinshaw family is committed to our Australian racing programs,” Walkinshaw said in a statement issued to the media this evening.
“Like I have said before, there is no truth to these rumours – they are completely baseless. We have no intention of selling – there is no reason for us to do so.
“It was one of my dad’s prized achievements and he worked extremely hard to get the racing business to the top.
“There is no way that the Walkinshaws are going to back down from our clear objective to re-establish Walkinshaw Racing as the dominant force within Australian Motorsport.
“We have a very experienced and focussed leader in Steve Hallam. We have fantastic drivers, a talented team and a loyal partner group – collectively, we are committed to winning races and championships.”
Walkinshaw Racing fields the Holden Racing Team and Supercheap Auto Racing in the V8 Supercars Championship, Coates Hire Racing in the Dunlop Series and Bundaberg Racing of the V8 Utes Series.
