Most followers of Australian motorsport know the name Andrew Miedecke, but not all of them would know his full career story.
The Tasmanian-born driver decided at an early age to be a race driver, and after competing in local Formula Ford, he headed over to England to compete in Formula 3.
After running out of cash, he headed back home before breaking both of his legs in a racing accident in New Zealand.
From there, he took on touring car driving, driving for his own team and other high-profile outfits.
And in amongst all of this, he ran his own car dealership in Port Macquarie, NSW.
After his wife was diagonsed with breast cancer in 2003, Miedecke took time away from racing, but this year, has bounded back into the sport, competing in the Touring Car Masters.
