Aidan Wright, Jon Collins and Garnet Patterson are set to test an LMP3 machine that will campaign in the Asian Le Mans Series.

The Infinity Race Engineering team have recently acquired an ADESS LMP3 car which it will campaign in the ALMS after the Australian/Malaysian team’s strong showing with a Ferrari 458 in the GT championship last season.

The trio of Australian drivers will undertake the test at the recently resurfaced Sepang circuit with team boss C.Q Loh and engineer Patrick Cahill in attendance.

Endorsed by the ACO (Automobile Club de l’Ouest), the ALMS is designed to foster teams and drivers from the Asian Pacific region with the opportunity of offering invitations into the Le Mans 24 Hour race.

The entry level prototype LMP3 class, while still in its infancy, is starting to flourish and offer a vital stepping stone for drivers good enough to make it into the factory LMP1 machines.

“I am excited to get back into something with some aero and test my limits around one of Asia’s top circuit. As for making it to Le Mans, what an opportunity that would be,” Wright said.

“To drive in the world’s best and toughest race would be a dream come true. Especially in a team full of Aussies.”

Both Collins and Patterson agree that LMP3 is a natural step from Formula 3 and Formula Masters and could provide a vital springboard to Europe.

The team along with technical partner, the chassis manufacturer ADESS AG, will be shaking down the LMP3 car in the build up to the opening round of the ALMS at Sepang from May 27-29.
