Dean Canto has continued The Bottle-O Racing Falcon’s strong Friday performances this season by topping the co-driver practice session at Phillip Island.
The long-time Ford Performance Racing endurance specialist completed 13 laps during the 30 minute session, recording a best of 1:35.05s.
Steven Richards, Paul Dumbrell and David Russell rounded out the top four having all lapped within 0.05s of Canto’s effort.
Luke Youlden, John McIntyre Nick Percat, Cameron McConville, David Besnard and Andrew Jones filled fifth through 10th.
All 25 co-drivers present at the circuit turned laps in the session.
Dumbrell, who will drive with Jamie Whincup at Sandown and Bathurst, completed 11 laps in Craig Lowndes’ #888 Commodore before completing out and in-laps in the #1 entry in the closing minutes.
Lowndes’ endurance partner Warren Luff is in Germany this weekend competing in the Nurburgring 24 Hour.
The session was run in cool but dry conditions, with a consistent wind pushing the cars down the main straight.
The second V8 Supercars practice session will kick-off at 1310 local time. Drivers in the lower 50 percent of the championship standings and all endurance co-drivers will be permitted to take part.
