Carlos Checa (Althea Racing) has recovered from his big race one crash (CLICK HERE for report) to post his first win of the World Superbike Championship in the second event at Phillip Island.
Checa checked-out from the front, while race #1 winner Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) put in the ride of the race after falling to last (24th) when he ran wide on the very first corner off the start.
Biaggi picked-off riders at will, passing everyone except the defending World Superbike Champion. Biaggi heads the championship on 45 points.
Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) overhauled a slowing Jonathan Rea (Honda World Superbike Team) in a breathtaking final lap to get his first dry weather Kawasaki podium.
The injured Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) put in a gritty ride to secure fifth place while his team-mate Marco Melandri was one place behind.
Melandri is second in the points to Biaggi with 30, one point ahead of Sykes in overall third. Checa is fourth with 25 points.
