Hayden Cooper has escaped a fire in the Mosler MT900 he’s sharing with Graham Lusty in the Production Sports support race at the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.
The car caught fire in the opening practice session of the weekend, caused by an oil leak onto the exhaust.
Cooper was able to stop the car and climb free, before working with officials to put the flames out.
Though set to miss qualifying, which is scheduled for 14:50, the team does expect the car to make a return on Saturday.
