Paul Dumbrell has topped the time sheets in the first practice session for the Dunlop Super2 Series, pipping a late-charging Jack LeBroq to the top spot this morning.
The Super2 stalwart set a 1:23.0400s lap around the Adelaide Parklands circuit as the clock hit zero in this morning’s stanza, pipping LeBroq who had made his way to the top of the sheets in the final minute of the session.
Dumbrell had earlier held the fastest time for a large portion of the session in the #88 Eggleston Motorsport Holden VF, before Le Broq was able to temporarily snatch it away with a 1:23.0522s lap – after which he took the #28 GoGetta/MWM Nissan Altima to the pits while Dumbrell set to work setting his own fast lap.
Also turning heads in the final moments were Jack Kostecki who vaulted 14 positions with a 1m 23.577s lap, Richard Muscat (four spots), Shae Davies (six spots) and Macaulay Jones (nine spots) – all finding themselves in the top five at some point in the final laps.
Jones (1:23.4165s) and Davies (1:243.4178s) would finish the session third and fifth fastest respectively, ahead of defending champion Garry Jacobson (1:23.4550s) in the #1 McQuinn Electrical Prodrive Racing Ford Falcon FGX.
The Dunlop Super2 Series practice continues at 14:15 with a further 30 minute session.
