Queensland-born Alexandra Whitley has been added to the W Series shortlist for January’s selection program.
Whitley is one of six drivers added to what organisers have described as a ‘longlist’ which now stands at 60 drivers.
She joins compatriots Chelsea Angelo, Charlotte Poynting, and Caitlin Wood, in vying for a spot on the 18-car grid for the inaugural season next year.
While Whitley hails from the Sunshine State, she has based herself in New Zealand in recent years and became the first female race winner in the country’s V8 Utes series earlier this month.
The selection process features both on- and off-track elements, including fitness tests and psychometric profiling, and will take place at Austria’s Wachauring on the final weekend of January.
The season starts on May 3-5 on the DTM support card at the Hockenheimring.
