There will be no helping hand for any V8 Supercars teams struggling with fuel economy at the Castrol Edge Gold Coast 600.
The V8 Supercars Commission has reversed a recent decision to require a minimum fuel drop of 550mm (as measured from the fuel towers) in each 300km race at the event.
The seven pitstop rule proved irrelevant at Bathurst as the winning car completed a total of 13 stops throughout the chaotic race.
The three Pirtek Enduro Cup events had been the only refuelling races not to have an economy parity measure included in the Operations Manual.
Four-valve engine runners Nissan, Erebus and Volvo will likely be worst affected by the rule reversal.
Tyres are meanwhile the biggest talking point ahead of the Gold Coast, with the 17 psi minimum requirement introduced at Bathurst to be seen at a soft tyre event for the first time.
Ford Performance Racing star Mark Winterbottom has already declared that the races “are going to be ugly” as the tyres will degrade faster at the higher pressures.
