GT-inspired livery for Holdsworth Bathurst assault

Lee Holdsworth’s rebuilt Erebus Motorsport V8 Supercar will sport new colours when it makes its track return at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

The Erebus crew have completed repairs to the #4 E63 AMG after its heavy accident at the Wilson Security Sandown 500.

The team says that the new livery draws inspiration from Erebus’ 2013 Bathurst 12 Hour winning Mercedes-Benz SLS GT3.

The 12 Hour victory remains Erebus’ greatest triumph since the team was formed in 2011.

Holdsworth, who drove the sister SLS to the victorious Bernd Schneider/Thomas Jaeger/Alex Roloff entry in 2013, says he’s pleased to see his V8 Supercar back in one piece.

“The team has done an amazing job to repair the car in time for Bathurst and I really love the look of the new livery,’’ said Holdsworth, who is partnered in the Pirtek Enduro Cup by Craig Baird.

“It’s great that we are paying respect to the Erebus car that has won Bathurst previously, albeit in a different race and category, so let’s hope some of that good fortune rubs off on us next week at Bathurst.

“Sandown may not have gone to plan for us but there were some positive signs before the accident and Bairdo and myself are itching to get back in the car at Bathurst.”

Team owner Betty Klimenko is hoping that the return to a yellow and black scheme will bring good fortune in the 1000.

“Winning the Bathurst 12 Hour was such a significant milestone in the team’s short history and we think this is a great way to pay tribute to that achievement,’’ said Klimenko.

“Fittingly, that milestone occurred at the same period that we were preparing to launch the Erebus V8 Supercar team and we all have fond memories of that time.

“Bathurst is a spiritual place for Australian motor racing fans so hopefully some of the good vibes from the Bathurst 12 Hour winning livery rubs off on our team this year.”

Holdsworth’s car continues to run without a primary sponsor, with the team’s Beko deal covering only the sister Will Davison/Alex Davison entry.

The team’s manufacturer status for 2015 meanwhile continues to remain unresolved as the team weighs up an offer to extend its Customer Sports agreement with AMG.
