Hill earns maiden Carrera Cup pole at Hidden Valley

Cameron Hill has earnt his first ever Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia pole position, beating Michael Almond by two-tenths of a second at Hidden Valley Raceway.

Making his debut in the series last year, Hill led the timesheets in the closing stages of the 20-minute session, posting a 1:07.4406 on his final flying lap.

Sonic Motor Racing’s Almond followed in an impressive second place while David Wall qualified third, also two-tenths behind, for the opening race of the weekend.

Championship leader Dale Wood could only manage fourth after he topped both practice sessions on Friday. The 35-year old recorded a 1:07.7463 to finish fourth.

Veteran driver Warren Luff rounded out the top five positions, three-tenths off the pace.

The opening race of the weekend will be a round of the Enduro Cup championship run over 35 laps. It is scheduled to start at 1445 local time/1515 AEST.
