One of the world’s leading Funny Car racers, Ron Capps has touched down in Sydney and has been preparing this week for a brand new concept to Australian drag racing, the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars at Sydney Dragway on Saturday.
After finishing sixth in this year’s Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Capps is the star attraction in the event that will see the biggest group of nitro powered Funny Cars in Australian drag racing history.
He will be joined by regular Top Fuel racer, Phil Lamattina and multiple New Zealand Champ, Willy White and many other high profile stars from the world of Australian drag racing.
Capps insists he isn’t just here for a holiday:
“I’m not here to put on a show, I’m here to win,” said the NHRA Funny Car front-runner. “I’m looking forward to it, we really have some great racers from Australia and New Zealand and I’m proud to be representing the USA.”
The event will feature plenty of additional entertainment including Monster Trucks, fireworks, kid’s rides and free entry for kids under 12. The Outlaw Nitro Funny Car concept has been driven by Aeroflow owner, Graeme Cowin and whilst this is the first event – his aim is to take the roadshow to many other venues around Australia.
The first Outlaw Nitro Funny Car pass will be at 5pm on Saturday at Sydney Dragway, Eastern Creek with further passes at 7pm and 9pm.
