Nico Rosberg has signed a new contract to stay at Mercedes until the end of the 2018 campaign.
The 31-year-old’s current deal at the Brackley squad was due to expire at the end of the season, before agreeing an extension on the eve of this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
Rosberg joined the Mercedes squad in 2010 where he has since scored 19 race wins and 25 pole positions.
The German has finished as runner-up to team-mate Lewis Hamilton in the championship in the last two years.
“Nico has been a core member of the Silver Arrows since the team returned to the sport in 2010 and has played a crucial role in the team’s success in that time,” read a statement from Mercedes.
Rosberg currently leads the championship standings by a single point over Hamilton ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
