The Sauber F1 Team has announced the promotion of Tatiana Calderón to test driver for the 2018 season.
The 24-year-old Colombian will step up from her role as development driver with the team, which will see her working alongside race drivers Marcus Ericsson and Charles Leclerc at a number of races, alongside a simulator program at the team’s Hinwil base.
“I am very pleased to confirm my role as Test Driver for the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team in the 2018 season,” said Calderón.
“This collaboration will build upon the experience that I have gained as Development Driver with the team over the past year, and I look forward to continuing on this positive path together.”
“We are very pleased to continue our collaboration with Tatiana Calderón as our Test Driver,” added team boss Frederic Vasseur.
“Tatiana is a very hard-working person, who has impressed the team with her focus and dedication.
“She has made good progress as a driver, developing both her mental and physical capacities continuously over the past few years.”
Calderón last year competed in the GP3 Series with DAMS, her second year in the class having raced with Arden International in 2016.
Prior to that she competed in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship, and European F3 Open series, along with outings in the British and Spanish Formula 3 championships.
Alongside her new role with Sauber in 2018, Calderón will also compete in her third season in GP3.
