The Bend Motorsport Park has claimed the Motorsport Facility of the Year Award at the Professional Motorsport World Expo Awards in Germany.
Facing competition from other venues which included Circuit Gilles Villenueve, host of the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix, it marks the first international accolade received by the venue.
“This is by a country mile the biggest accolade we have received so far,” said The Bend’s Managing Director, Sam Shahin.
“It is a phenomenal achievement, considering the last winners were in 2018 Donington Park in the UK, and before that the The Circuit of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France, the F1 facility Sochi Autodrom in Russia and the Audi Competence Center Motorsport in Germany.’’
Previously the circuit has been recognised locally, when the South Australian Sport Awards dubbed the OTR SuperSprint the Major Event of the Year in 2018.
The circuit this weekend hosts the final round of the Shannons Nationals, which includes the TCR Australia Series, S5000, Porsche Michelin GT3 Cup Challenge, Australian Production Car Series, Australian Prototype Series, and the Excels Nationals.
