Toyota Australia will once again sponsor the World Rally Championship season-ending Kennards Hire Rally Australia in Coffs Harbour.
The nation’s largest selling car brand will again be the official vehicle supplier for this year’s event, which takes place on November 15-18.
Toyota took up the role last year, coinciding with its return to WRC.
Ott Tanak won last weekend’s round of the championship in Finland for Toyota Gazoo Racing while at a local level the marque backs Neal Nates Motorsport in the CAMS Australian Rally Championship, which will also conclude again in Coffs.
“Toyota has competed in rallies across the globe from its first ever outing in the 1957 Mobilgas Round Australia Rally through to the three GAZOO Racing Yaris WRC cars currently running in the highest level of the WRC,” said Toyota chief marketing officer Wayne Gabriel.
“Our involvement and support not only delivers spectacular thrills for fans but also provides valuable knowledge and experience that can then be fed back into our development of road cars for customers.
“Rally Australia is always a highlight given our unique gravel surfaces and mix of tight forest and open stages that are a serious challenge for drivers and deliver spectacular action for fans and we are pleased to support such a fantastic event.”
Rally Australia chairman Ben Rainsford welcomed the renewal.
“It means to us not only a fleet of the latest Toyota vehicles to enable our officials to complete their tasks around the rally course, but also a partnership with a brand that has been among the most successful in Australian and international rallying for many years,” he said.
“This is another great example of Toyota’s commitment to the sport and we look forward to working with it on another memorable WRC Rally Australia.”
WRC continues with Rally Deutschland on August 16-19.
