If you’ve ever wondered how the Top Gear crew would go in a V8 Supercar, you don’t have to wonder any more.
On tonight’s episode of Top Gear on Channel 9 the Top Gear crew will take to the wheel of Mark Winterbottom’s Orrcon Steel FPR Falcon.
During the episode show co-host Ewan Page gets to fulfil a lifelong fantasy by driving a V8 Supercar on the public roads.
Page takes to the wheel of the Orrcon Steel FPR Falcon through the crowded streets of Balmain in Sydney, across the Anzac Bridge and into the CBD. And, to top it off, he then goes for few laps at Calder Park in Melbourne, with ‘Frosty’ showing him how.
Page describes the experience as, well, “Weird.” He has indicated on the Top Gear Australia website that the gearbox takes a lot of getting used to and all the controls are heavy and designed only for high speed. He says that the car is intimidating on the track, mostly because he knows that he is using so little of what the car can do.
Be sure to tune into the new Top Gear Australia on Channel 9 at 7.30pm *(check your local guides) tonight to check it out.
