The four-times World Touring Car Champion Yvan Muller has confirmed he will start in the French round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship in September.

Muller will make his debut in the exciting series at Loheac from September 4-6 in a Peugeot 208 Supercar prepared by Albatec Racing.

The hugely experienced touring car ace who is also a former British Touring Car Champion and Sandown 500 winner alongside Craig Lowndes in 2005 is set to run beside his French compatriot Jerome Grosset-Janin who is the current European Rallycross leader.

The Citroen WTCC team has given Muller clearance to compete as there is no conflict in the calendar.

“I’ve wanted to do rallycross for a long time, it’s been on my mind for four or five years, but I didn’t have the opportunity, the good opportunity, or the time to do it,” explained Muller.

“I’m really looking forward to doing Lohéac, firstly it’s very well known in France, and rallycross now is at a high level, so I think it’s just the right time to do it.”

Muller has already been groomed for the appearance after testing at Faleyras in France where he set some impressive times.

“The test with Albatec in Faleyras was good. It was my first experience, so I learnt and saw much more how rallycross is, what it’s all about.”

Muller is booked for a further test with the Scottish-based Albatec at Loheac in August.
