The Melbourne Performance Centre Audi has ended practice fastest after a dramatic opening day ahead of the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour at Mount Panorama.
The Marc Cini, Mark Eddy and Christopher Mies crewed R8 set a 2:05.32 best in the final 60 minute segment.
Italian Michele Rugolo pounced late in the run to claim second fastest in 2:06.15.
Continuing a fairytale opening was the Trass Family Ferrari 458 Italia which ended third fastest in 2:06.22 after the car was hastily fitted out overnight following its 11th hour arrival at the circuit.
The #15 Phoenix Audi was fourth best ahead of the #32 Roger Lago Lamborghini after both cars had topped the previous sessions (#15 in P2 and #32 in P1 and P3).
The Skwirk Audi was sixth fastest with the #35 NISMO GT-R seventhThe first stoppage of the session came with 25 minutes remaining when the #51 IMAK Porsche became stranded in the Hell Corner gravel trap which signalled the seventh red flag of the day.
The Stephen Grove Porsche ended all four sessions fastest of the Class B brigade.
The #4 Porsche 997 GT3 Cup car used the same set of tyres with the new Michelin L rubber proving its longer durability from its softer carcass, reinforced crown stiffness and new compound.
The debut of the MARC Cars Mazda 3 in the Invitational Class saw Jake Camalleri forced into the garage with clutch problems.
