Third generation Victorian Sprintcar driver, Nick Lacey will continue to add to his family’s rich history in oval track racing when he takes on the full World Series Sprintcars campaign this summer.
The 25-year-old former Formula Ford driver is the son of Brett Lacey and grandson of Ray ‘Nippa’ Lacey, both of whom carved out well respected careers in the sport.
Brett became the first driver in Australian Sprintcar history to charge to an Australian Title in a car that was built by the driver and went on to finish second to George Tatnell in the inaugural season of World Series Sprintcars.
Following time in karting – mainly in his home state of Victoria – Lacey moved into the Formula Ford ranks at State level. University studies saw him out of action for some time before the family involvement in Speedway lured him to the dirt.
He has developed into a well respected racer, having taken his first feature race win on the high banks of Warrnambool.
Having the Lacey name back into the World Series Sprintcars fold will continue on a rich history of Australian Sprintcar racing.
World Series Sprintcars begins on Boxing Day at Adelaide’s Speedway City.
