Toyota has revealed a two-door, front-engined GR Supra Racing Concept at the Geneva International Motor Show.
Developed by Toyota Gazoo Racing, the rear-wheel drive machine employs composite materials in its construction, with GTE style aerodynamics.
Inside the car is also spartan, with racing seat and harness, quick release steering wheel and full roll cage.
The Supra name first appeared in the late 1970s, and remained in production until 2002, at which point it was the Japanese company’s most powerful production model.
During that period it enjoyed racing success in Japan, winning the GT500 Super GT class four times.
The Supra has also seen competition in the IMSA sportscar series in the United States, and in the 1990s had two Le Mans 24 Hours starts.
Toyota currently competes in a number of competitions including the World Endurance Championship, World Rally Championship, and in GT racing through sister brand Lexus.
