Jean-Eric Vergne emerged quickest on the opening day of the final FIA Formula E pre-season test at Donington Park.
The ex-Formula 1 driver clocked a 1:29.64s effort in the afternoon session held on a drying track.
Vergne’s time, posted in the final hour of the hit out, fell just six thousandths shy of the new lap record he clocked during the first test at the Leicestershire venue last month.
The Techeetah driver eclipsed DS Virgin Racing’s Sam Bird by almost 0.3s, while Nico Prost was just marginally slower in third.
Jerome d’Ambrosio was fourth fastest as the Faraday Future Dragon Racing operation enjoyed its strongest showing yet.
The Belgian racer headed reigning Formula E champion Sebastien Buemi in the Renault e.dams entry, with ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport’s Daniel Abt completing the top six.
Adam Carroll recorded Jaguar’s fastest lap time in pre-season testing so far to end the day in seventh.
The sister car piloted by New Zealander Mitch Evans was 14th as the new operation completed 75 laps of running with its I-Type 1.
Jaguar is due to announce its driver line-up for its maiden 2016/2017 campaign on Thursday.
Jose Maria Lopez (DS Virgin Racing), Nick Heidfeld (Mahindra Racing) and Ma Qing Hua (Techeetah) rounded out the top 10.
The test was interrupted on nine occasions when marshals were called upon to clear debris from the circuit.
The final pre-season test concludes on Wednesday ahead of the season opening visit to Hong Kong from October 9.
