Will Power has taken some time out during his Australian summer break to deliver a special prize to one Speedcafe.com competition winner.

To celebrate the launch of Speedcafe.com Classifieds in July, the leading Australian motorsport website ran a competition to give away a signed pair of gloves used by Power during the Indianapolis 500.

Power won the Indianapolis 500 in May, becoming the first Australian to win IndyCar’s blue riband event.

Speedcafe.com’s lucky winner was Andrew Prentice, who was overwhelmed with emotion having followed Power since the early days of his career.

“This is a huge honour, I am lost for words,” said Prentice.

“I have followed Will since his first race in IndyCar, I have always been a big fan and to watch him take out the Indy 500 was something I’ll never forget.

“I always visit Speedcafe.com to follow my IndyCar and anything else on wheels. I’m lost for words.”

The gloves were delivered to Prentice with a personal message from the 2014 IndyCar Champion.

“Andrew, finally your 37 year wait is over and Oz now has a 500 in the bag. Thanks for your support,” read the note from Power.

May 27, 2018 now stands as one of the greatest in Australian motorsport, with Power’s Brickyard triumph coming just hours after Daniel Ricciardo’s Monaco Grand Prix Formula 1 victory.
